Governing Rule

Methodological Firewall

The Methodological Firewall

The corpus must remain under the discipline of what is written. It may speak where Scripture speaks. It may infer where Scripture necessarily compels inference. It may mark possible readings as possible. It must not transform possibility into doctrine, rhetoric into witness, accusation into proof, or zeal into category collapse.

Where Scripture distinguishes, we distinguish.

Where Scripture joins, we proclaim the joining.

Where Scripture conceals, we do not pretend mastery.

Where Scripture names, we must not rename carelessly.

Where Scripture permits lawful correction, we must not call it hatred.

Where Scripture forbids false witness, we must not baptize accusation.

This firewall governs the whole omnibus: covenant, Israel and Judah, commandments, priesthood, prayer, money, assembly, marriage, speech, mercy, prophecy, angels, beastly power, resurrection, and New Creation.
